Season 2026 — Time
Music can make time stand completely still. The mere thought of the opening notes of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, or the warmth of Bach's cello suites, can quicken the pulse — while simultaneously making the sense of time and place disappear. “That time shall open, that heart shall open,” writes Olav H. Hauge in his most famous poem. What is it about music that unleashes this power?

Welcome to a new concert season with the theme Time. This year's performers invite us into a space where music can resonate freely, without haste. Brahms' violin sonatas, Bach chorales, Strauss' Four Last Songs and, of course, Messiaen's masterpiece Quartet for the End of Time. These are among the works that elevate us, while the pulsating rhythms of Beethoven, Bartók, and Steve Reich bring us back down to earth — and propel us forward.
This year's season introduces us to several of tomorrow's performers in our new Debut Series . We will also hear one of the world's leading string quartets, some of our country's finest chamber musicians, and a bunch of very exciting names from the European music scene — and the Trondheim Soloists are of course back as our resident ensemble in both Oslo , Bergen and Ramme . Occasionally, the concerts are also spiced up with conversations from the sidelines — and poetry and text will be given greater space as part of our concert experiences.
The launch of the autumn programme as well as The Havlystparken Concerts and The Håkon's Hall Concerts takes place in April and May, and the information is first published via our newsletter.
Find your time. Welcome!
Best regards from
Thormod Rønning KvamPianist and Artistic Director
