— Musical sprinkles with resting heart rate.
For the fourth year in a row , Bugge Wesseltoft is warming up for the Christmas holidays with us at Ramme , and we are always just as excited to welcome him, and you in the audience, back.
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of It's snowing on my piano , a slow-moving Christmas album that has long since found its place in thousands of homes. Wesseltoft takes us into a world of sound where time almost stands still — with improvisations on folk tunes and Christmas carols in a way that only Bugge can. The concert has become a firm tradition with us, so we recommend securing your ticket in good time. Welcome!

If there is one Norwegian Christmas album that has become part of eternity, it is this one. Wesseltoft himself writes:
"It's snowing on my piano was created out of a desire for peace and quiet at Christmas, and a break from stress, gift-giving hysteria and having to be so incredibly happy all the time. As a young man, I worked in an emergency room at a psychiatric hospital and it was a shock for me to discover that Christmas is also a time for depression, loneliness and domestic violence. When a German record company asked me to make a solo piano record of Christmas carols, I had strong doubts, but in the end I chose to record it on the condition that I could do it in my own way. Loving each other and having time for each other is the most important thing we can do at Christmas."

Bugge Wesseltoft grew up in Porsgrunn as the son of jazz guitarist Erik Wesseltoft. His breakthrough came around 1990, when he played on Arild Andersen's commissioned work Sagn for Vossajazz and on Jan Garbarek's I Took Up the Runes . In 1995 he started New Conception of Jazz, where jazz was followed by electronica and club music, and later he established the record label Jazzland. Since then he has collaborated with, among others, Sidsel Endresen, Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal, Nils Petter Molvær, Jon Eberson, Henrik Schwarz, Mari Boine, Henning Kraggerud — and many more. On the album AM ARE he brings together musicians from several generations, including Arild Andersen and Rohey.
In addition to his band projects, the solo piano has been a constant focus for Wesseltoft. The solo album It's snowing on my piano was released in 1997 and is the starting point for the Christmas concerts he plays every December. At Aulaseriene has he been on stage at Ramme in several constellations, including with the project Am Are and together with violinist Henning Kraggerud in addition to a number of solo concerts. Since 2023, the Christmas concert in Rammerommet has been a permanent tradition, and on December 5th he will be back for the fourth year in a row.
We wish you an enjoyable, unique concert experience with us. Welcome!
