— From darkness to light.
Spring has always inspired our Nordic composers — and Swedish Kurt Atterberg is no exception. His popular suite, a lyrical and evocative double concerto for violin and viola, sets the tone for this April Sunday's musical journey from darkness to light.
Bergen Chamber Orchestra , a project ensemble with strong roots in the city's rich freelance and chamber music community, is also presenting a top-notch soloist group this time. They invite us further into Benjamin Britten's Les Illuminations for tenor and strings — a journey full of musical richness based on Arthur Rimbaud's poetic universe.
The concert concludes with Czech composer Josef Suk's String Serenade, a work full of springtime fervor, Brahmsian warmth and melodic genius à la Dvořák — with whom Suk studied when the serenade was written. Welcome!
