— Finnish star duo for the first time in Norway.
It is not often that one of Finland's most in-demand cellists makes a trip to Norway. In April, we were lucky enough to experience Senja Rummukainen in the University Aula, and now she is finally coming to Ramme. In collaboration with pianist Ossi Tanner, lauded by critics for his poetic, rich, and lyrical playing, they will present a programme filled with Finnish power and heartfelt emotion.
The programme is wide-ranging: Debussy's Cello Sonata is concise and witty with abrupt shifts, while Sibelius' short pieces from Op. 77 possess a quiet and almost reverent calm. Brahms' Sonata in E minor is considered an undisputed highlight of cello literature, and is the dark and passionate centrepiece of this concert.
At the heart of it all, we find composer, pianist, and conductor Olli Mustonen's charismatic and very popular cello sonata from 2006. We will also get to know Mustonen better when he performs with the Engegård Quartet here this autumn. But first: Finnish, youthful finesse in Havlystparken. Welcome!

Senja Rummukainen is considered one of the most internationally significant cellists of her generation. After winning the Turku Cello Competition in 2014 and reaching the finals of the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, she has performed as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic, among others, and she made her debut at the BBC Proms in 2024. Göteborgs-Posten has described her as "a fantastic cellist". In 2026, she was awarded a scholarship from the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust.
Ossi Tanner has been almost unanimously hailed by critics as a «piano poet». Following his victory in the Tampere Competition in 2017, he has performed as a soloist with almost all of Finland's orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Klaus Mäkelä, Susanna Mälkki, and Sakari Oramo. He is part of the artistic direction of the Kamarikesä Chamber Music Festival in Helsinki — with which Aulaseriene initiated a collaboration last year — and for the KAIKU concert series at the Finnish Institute in Paris. Tanner holds master's degrees from the Manhattan School of Music in the USA and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
We wish you an enjoyable, unique concert experience with us. Welcome!
