  • University Aula, Bergen Muséplassen 3 5007 Bergen Norway (map)

— Strauss' last songs.

It is a pleasure to welcome TrondheimSolistene back to Bergen. This time they are joined by Elisabeth Teige, who in recent years has had a meteoric rise at international opera houses in the musical universe of Wagner and Strauss. The programme includes Strauss' Morgen! as well as the immortal Vier letzte Lieder, among his last completed works.

TrondheimSolistene will also perform Gustav Holst's folkloristic St Paul’s Suite as well as an orchestral transcription of Beethoven's String Quartet in F minor. Their musical director this evening is violinist Marianne Thorsen. A concert not to be missed!

  • Elisabeth Teige is one of Norway's most sought-after opera singers and is internationally regarded as one of today's most exciting Norwegian opera voices. Teige's career spans major stages both at home and abroad, and she has performed at opera houses such as Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. From 2027-2030, she will perform the demanding role of Brünnhilde in Wagner's magnificent Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Opera.

TrondheimSolistene is a chamber orchestra that performs music with a broad programme and musical vision. It was established by violinist and pedagogue Bjarne Fiskum in 1988 and gives over a hundred concerts annually, with tours both in Norway and Europe in collaboration with leading national and international soloists. Aulaseriene is proud to have the Trondheim Soloists as their resident ensemble from 2024–2026.

Their discography includes over 25 releases, with the most recent ones resulting in a total of two Spellemann Awards and Grammy nominations. They have recorded all of Grieg's compositions for strings, and the release of Grieg's G minor quartet arranged for string orchestra received the French Diapason d’Or award. In addition to their own releases, the Trondheim Soloists regularly collaborate with artists across various other genres, and are today among our most versatile classical ensembles. In 2024, Guro Kleven Hagen took over as artistic director from Geir Inge Lotsberg. This concert is led by Marianne Thorsen.

We wish you an enjoyable, unique concert experience with us. Welcome!
