In 2025 it will be 50 years since Dmitri Shostakovich passed away. Both he and Bergen's Harald Sæverud were very important voices in their time; artistic as well as democratic front figures, who today — unfortunately — have gained renewed relevance. This November evening we explore the exciting community between these two figures, who carried with them the legacy of both Bach and Bartók and brought it into our time.

In this programme, we enter Sæverud's rich world of Norwegian folklore dances, presented by pianist Frode Skag Storheim. The concert culminates with Shostakovich's majestic Piano Quintet in G minor, performed by musicians from Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra together with our artistic director. Welcome to our season finale in the Bergen University Aula.
