— Nordic melancholy meets Indian raga improvisation.
From Karpe collaboration to soloist engagement with the Oslo Philharmonic: When Harpreet Bansal arrives at Havlystparken this Sunday, it will be with a personal signature. As a young musician, she had her Indian father as a teacher — and she developed a close musical relationship with her background.
Bansal is today among the most sought-after multi-genre violinists in Norway, bringing the tonal language of the Indian raga tradition into the classical world of the violin. Together with her regular fellow musicians, Andreas Bratlie on tabla and cellist Svante Henryson , she presents a rich and varied programme in Havlysttheateret. Welcome!

Harpreet Bansal is one of the few who has brought traditional music from India into the classical sphere. She is a sought-after violinist who regularly performs at festivals in Scandinavia and Europe, and has released several critically acclaimed albums. She has collaborated with everything from the Oslo Philharmonic and KORK to Karpe, and her first solo album, Samaya, was already nominated for the Spellemann. In addition to her own work, she curates the Global concert series with international traditional music in Oslo, supported by the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
In recent years, Andreas Bratlie has been the regular drummer for, among others, Bertine Zetlitz, MiniMacro Wind Ensemble and Bansal Trio. The latter is an Indian-classical crossover concept in which he, as one of the few musicians in this country, plays the Indian drums tabla .
Svante Henryson is a unique and virtuoso musician, composer and improviser who moves boundlessly across the entire musical spectrum. As a cellist, whether in jazz, world music or rock, he makes the cello sound as if it has always belonged there. Whether in a raga duo, with a jazz big band, or in front of a symphony orchestra, the voice of his cello is instantly recognizable.
Welcome to a unique musical experience!
