Nothing disappears — a gripping musical journey with Marcus and Ole Paus.
In the release Ingenting forsvinner, two generations of artistry are united in a strong and expressive musical experience. Composer Marcus Paus has set lyrics by his father, the beloved folk singer and poet Ole Paus . The work is performed by the renowned mezzo-soprano Tora Augestad in collaboration with the NyNorsk Brass Quintet .
Nothing Disappears is a musical reflection on the transience of life and the power of memory. With a unique blend of melodic depth and textual weight, the work touches on existential themes in a way that is both poignant and timeless. Marcus Paus' characteristic tonal language, characterized by both modern sounds and lyrical melodic guidance, forms a strong foundation for Ole Paus' poetic universe.
"Portrett i C" (2022) was written for Ole Paus' 75th birthday, and consists of Marcus Paus' new musical settings of a selection of his father's most famous texts, while "Ingenting forsvinner" (2019) consists of new texts by Ole Paus written to his son's music.
"A Silence in the Answer" was written in the fall of 2023 while Ole Paus was ill, and is based on two previous pieces that Marcus and Ole Paus have collaborated on, "In Paradisum" from Requiem (2014) and "Guttens Vuggesang" from the opera Heksene (2007—08).
