— Artistic impulses from Düsseldorf in the 1850s.
Countless Norwegian artists went to Germany in the mid-19th century. What impulses did they encounter, and not least , who?
Inspired by Lars Hertervig , the Rogalin native who went to the Schumann city Düsseldorf in the 1850s — and from art historian Holger Koefoed's upcoming book about him — we have put together a concert program that takes us on the same journey.
Some of Robert Schumann's major chamber music works are set against atmospheric and carefully selected music by Arvo Pärt , Valen and Wolfgang Rihm . Texts about Hertervig are read by actors Hanna-Maria Grønneberg and Kåre Conradi .
The musicians on stage are pianist and festival director for Podium in Haugesund, Mathias Halvorsen , Thormod Rønning Kvam , violinist Magnus Boye Hansen and cellist Frida Fredrikke Waaler Wærvågen . Welcome to a unique, multi-artistic concert performance!
The concert is also a celebration of Holger Koefoed's 80th birthday, and is held in collaboration with our regular supporter Grev Wedels Plass Auksjoner.
