Wesseltoft, Andersen & Nilssen: Am Are

  • Havlysttheateret, Ramme Rammeveien 90 1545 Hvitsten Norway (map)

— A rare, true cornucopia.

Bugge Wesseltoft has been a guest Ramme a number of times already — and for good reason. This July evening we get to hear his latest album release, which has already rolled a six on the dice. Am Are is the fifth release in his solo project, which is characterized by reflections on the times we live in. Wesseltoft's music often has clear messages for the listener, and this album is no exception.

There is an enormous creative power, curiosity, ingenuity and drive in Bugge Wesseltoft that has never manifested itself as it did on "Am Are." That says a lot.
— Tor Hammerø, Nettavisen (dice roll 6)

The album reflects the artist's genre breadth, and the trio works to be performed at the concert can be described as everything from progressive rock to urban downbeat jazz. With him, Wesseltoft has none other than Arild Andersen on double bass and Gard Nilssen on drums. Do you dare to miss this?

Duration approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. The program is without intermission.

  • Bugge Wesseltoft never stands still. He is constantly on the move, searching for new challenges. Ever since the release of New Conception of Jazz in 1997, his music has crossed countless musical barriers, and he has always questioned the necessity of these barriers. Yet it is an undisputed truth that Bugge's heart and soul lie closest to jazz. He can weave in elements of world music, he can weave in elements of electronics: there will always be a core of jazz in the music. Other explorers from the world of jazz create musical hybrids that move further and further away from their starting point. Bugge, on the other hand, manages to draw energy and new perspectives from these external sources and direct them back to jazz.

Welcome to a unique musical experience!
