  • — Chet Baker's voice and trumpet defined cool jazz. But how did his stories sound in our own native language?

Baker Hansen searches for the answer to this in language and interaction, based on the music that Chet Baker played.

The jazz classics are timeless and well-known, but the lyrics are rewritten and the stories reworked for our own purposes in our own time, performed in dialect by vocalist Sigurd Rotvik Tunestveit from Ål in Hallingdal. When the language is our own, the music gets the opportunity to get closer to the listener - and the life and play of the well-playing jazz ensemble highlights why this music has a special place in many jazz hearts.

The new album Ein song som lægn oss came out in September 2024 with completely new retellings of classics such as “Autumn Leaves” (with lyrics by Sylfest Lomheim), “The Night We Called It A Day” and “Do It The Hard Way”.

Baker Hansen has previously released three albums, Ei som deg (2014), Gamle Daga (2016) and Live in Oslo with John Pål Inderberg (2019), and has toured the country at several hundred concerts since 2010.

Welcome to a unique musical experience!
